THE COMET TAVERN

Lajeunesse and his team went to great lengths to renovate The Comet. The biggest challenge was reconstructing it from its dilapidated state without making the space feel new or out-of-step. This required refinishing and restoring all the natural wood and built-in refrigeration, and choosing “new” materials that had natural age and wear-and-tear. Anything original and intact was retained, including the antique light fixtures, and all the booths and perimeter seating were built with old car decking. To pull from The Comet’s existing history, Lajeunesse reached out to past owners and procured memorabilia and photos, which now decorate the tavern’s interior.
